It is primary day in Florida and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Here are the key takeaways from Robert Bender, Escambia County Elections Supervisor.

  • Florida has closed primaries, meaning voters receive a ballot based on their party affiliation.
  • Confirm the location of your polling place: It’s listed on your sample ballot, your voter information card, online at EscambiaVotes.gov, or by calling (850) 595-3900.
  • Three polling locations have changed since March. All affected voters have been notified of their new polling location. A complete list of polling locations can be found at EscambiaVotes.gov/where-to-vote.
  • If you are unsure of your registration status, check EscambiaVotes.gov/am-i-registered, email [email protected] or call (850) 595-3900.
  • All voters must present a signed photo ID. If you cannot present one of the 12 approved photo IDs, you may cast a provisional vote.
  • To familiarize yourself with all the choices, review your sample ballot beforehand and bring it with you to the polls. A sample ballot was mailed to voters and you can view it online at EscambiaVotes.gov/sample-ballots.
  • Remember to make only one choice per round on your ballot. Voters in precincts 30A and 58A will have one round each where more than one choice may be made. Please check your ballot carefully.
  • Registration books were closed on July 22. New registrations and party changes for this election are not possible at the polling station.
  • You cannot return your completed postal ballot to your constituency on election day. It must be handed in to the polling station by 7 p.m. on election day.
  • If you requested a mail-in ballot but did not return it, you can vote at your polling place on Election Day. Although it is not required, we ask that you bring your packet of unfilled ballots with you so it can be cancelled.
  • The busiest times at polling stations are typically from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., noon, and from 4:00 p.m. until polls close.
  • Early voting ended on Saturday, August 17. If you have not yet voted or did not request a mail-in ballot before the deadline, you must go to your polling place on Election Day.
  • If you voted by mail, you can check the status of your ballot at EscambiaVotes.gov/track-my-ballot.

We will post local results as soon as they are available on NorthEscambia.com on Tuesday evening, and we will provide a summary of local election news on Wednesday morning.
