This is what the Boeing 787 Dreamliner looks like without seats

In case you’ve ever wondered, rare images show what the interior of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner looks like before the seats are installed.

Depending on the model, the 787 wide-body aircraft is between 57 and 68 meters long and can carry between 248 and 336 passengers.

The aircraft feature two-aisle seating and spacious cabins, which are also specifically designed to minimize noise and vibration, creating a “quieter” space.

Without seats, the Boeing 787 looks ridiculously big

While you may know how a 787 is built and maybe even know all about the secret sleeping cabin for pilots and crew, it’s unlikely you’ve ever seen a 787 without seats – until now.

Boeing has released some rarely seen images showing what the aircraft looked like before it was upgraded.

And it looks a bit like a cross between the futuristic corridor you would see in a spaceship in a science fiction movie and an airplane hangar.

While the aircraft are typically designed to carry hundreds of passengers per flight, Boeing can also build what it calls “Boeing Business Jets,” or BBJs, which are versions of Boeing jet airliners with “modifications for the private, government and corporate jet markets.”

Since these aircraft are not designed for commercial use, modifications, details and updates are largely left to the customer.

The aircraft can be configured according to customer requirements

This means it can be fitted out with a master bedroom, a guest cabin, a living and dining area – or simply anything the customer imagines.

You’re probably wondering who can afford a BBJ, right? Well, most of the liners built – including the Boeing 737, the 747-8, the 767 and the 787 – are used by governments around the world for VIP transport.

The first 787s ordered through BBJ were ordered in September 2022.

“The BBJ 787 complements the BBJ family, a complete line of the most capable aircraft in the VIP market,” said then-BBJ President Captain Steve Taylor when the first BBJ 787 was delivered.

“The combination of phenomenal range, high cruise speed, low cabin altitude, large windows and ultra-quiet cabin makes the 787 ideal for BBJ customers.”

This puts a whole new dimension on private jets, doesn’t it?
