NBA and FIBA ​​​​partner with NBL to host Basketball Without Borders in Australia

PERTH (Australia) – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), in cooperation with the National Basketball League (NBL), today announced that the 14th The 13th edition of Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia will take place at Warwick Stadium in Perth from September 19. The camp, which marks the third time BWB Asia has been hosted in Australia, is part of the first-ever HoopsFest, a multi-day basketball competition and fan event supported by Basketball Australia, celebrating the biggest weekend in Australian basketball history.

BWB Asia 2024 will bring together 30 boys and 30 girls, ages 17 and under, from across Asia Pacific to learn directly from current and former NBA, WNBA and FIBA ​​players, legends and coaches, and compete alongside peers from across the region. Campers and coaches, to be announced prior to camp, will also participate in life skills, leadership development and social responsibility programs.

Hosted by the NBL and Basketball Australia, HoopsFest features a series of basketball tournaments, events and festivities that bring the Australian basketball community together in Perth, Western Australia.

BWB Asia 2024 is supported by Nike, a global partner of BWB since 2002, which will provide participants with Nike apparel and footwear, as well as Gatorade, which will keep players and coaches hydrated throughout the camp.

Among the record-breaking 125 international players on the 2023-24 NBA season’s opening roster were 41 former BWB campers, including 2022 NBA All-Rookie Second Team member and NBA Global Academy graduate Josh Giddey (Chicago Bulls; Australia; BWB Asia 2018 and BWB Global 2020), Josh Green (Charlotte Hornets; Australia; BWB Global 2018) and 2020 NBA All-Rookie Second Team member Rui Hachimura (Los Angeles Lakers; Japan; BWB Global 2016).

Since 2001, BWB has reached more than 4,500 participants from 142 countries and territories, with 127 former campers moving on to the NBA or WNBA. The NBA and FIBA ​​have hosted 77 BWB camps in 51 cities in 33 countries on six continents.
