Over the next few weeks, What’sUpNewp will interview dozens of Newport candidates ahead of the Sept. 10 primary and Nov. 5 general election.
In these one-on-one, live virtual video interviews, you’ll get to know the candidates, they’ll be able to talk about their platforms, and we’ll be able to ask the questions that matter to voters.
We’ll start with the Newport City Council and Newport School Board. Each candidate for District 1 City Council, District 2 City Council, Newport City Council and Newport School Board was invited via email to a 30-minute conversation with What’sUpNewp.
In the lead-up to the September 10 primary election and before early voting begins on August 21, What’sUpNewp will be interviewing candidates for Newport’s First District between August 21 and 28.
What’sUpNewp will interview candidates for Newport City Council (Second District and At-Large) and Newport School Committee between September 30 and October 11. Early voting for the November 5 general election begins October 16.
What’sUpNewp has also asked all candidates for City Council to complete a questionnaire that will be released the week of September 15-21.
