YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (WDTN) – A new attraction at Young’s Jersey Dairy is giving back to the community in a big way.

Since its premiere on July 11, Cowtherine’s Carousel has raised over $103,000 for the Rocking Horse Community Health Center, a local nonprofit that provides medical care to people in Springfield.

By sponsoring each of the 30 animals on the carousel, people can “adopt” each animal for $5,000. Currently, one cow and several horses are available for adoption. Once you sponsor, the adoption is valid for five years and you receive free rides and a badge for that period.

Outside of the ride, Young’s sold over 600 custom-designed bricks, with proceeds also benefiting the nonprofit.

“At Young’s Jersey Dairy, our roots run deep in this community and we believe in supporting organizations that have a lasting impact,” said John Young, CIEIO at Young’s Jersey Dairy. “We selected Rocking Horse Community Health Center as a beneficiary for these projects because their commitment to accessible, compassionate care aligns perfectly with our values.”

According to Chris Schutte, vice president of destination marketing for the Greater Springfield Partnership, the organization sponsored a cow that it named Rosie. The name Rosie was chosen because of Springfield’s nickname as “The Rose City.”

Every Wednesday, 50 cents of all carousel tickets purchased goes to a local charity or nonprofit organization.
