Georgia Ports welcomes heavy equipment processors to the region

Aertssen Logistics expands its international presence with a new equipment processing center in Rincon, Georgia, improving logistics services for heavy equipment manufacturers and promoting regional economic growth.

Heavy equipment manufacturers that transport their cargo through the Georgia Ports Authority have a new option for processing and logistics services in the Savannah area.

“We are proud to welcome Aertssen Logistics to the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick,” said Griff Lynch, President and CEO of GPA. “Their new location in Effingham County will allow them to significantly expand their logistics business model and provide the region with value-added services for our respective customers.”

Belgium-based Aertssen Logistics is establishing itself in the United States with an international logistics location in Rincon, Georgia, just 14 miles from the Garden City Terminal of the Port of Savannah. The Equipment Processing Center (EPC) serves manufacturers of agricultural, mining and construction equipment.

Company officials said the site offers land for future expansion, a strong local workforce, strategic highways and quick access to the Port of Savannah’s more than 35 weekly connections to global markets.

The EPC offers comprehensive logistics services, indoor and outdoor storage, and various customized engineering services. Its strategic location near the Port of Savannah, a major hub for the Southeastern United States, makes the 35-acre facility an ideal logistics center.

Aertssen Logistics has partnered with private investor The Broe Group to develop the operations center in the Savannah area. The location will enable faster and more efficient service to its North American customers.

“We see significant growth opportunities, driven by a strong US economy with significant investments in infrastructure, resulting in increasing demand for our customers’ machines,” said Guus Verhaagen, Business Development Manager USA at Aertssen Logistics. “At the same time, there is a growing need for more efficient logistics solutions. With our wide range of high-quality services, we are perfectly positioned to meet this demand.”

The Equipment Processing Center manages the complete outsourcing of logistics activities, including machine inspections, repairs, technical services and complete assembly. With its three European locations, Aertssen Logistics now prepares over 30,000 machines per year for delivery to end customers in the mechanical engineering industry worldwide.

The first machines arrived at the Georgia site at the end of May and cooperation with various partners has already made further expansion necessary.

“Our customers and employees are at the heart of everything we do,” says Sam Aertssen, Director of Aertssen Logistics. “While we’ve made a strong start in the US, it’s critical to sustain that growth responsibly. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey we’ve taken so far and look forward to what lies ahead.”
