Michaela Coel is the author and lead actress in a new series from HBO and BBC

It has been several years since Michaela Coel published the HBO Series, “I could destroy you.” And since then there have been rumors about possible follow-up series by Coel. So far, however, nothing has come of it, with the upcoming “First day on earth.”

According to HBO and BBCMichaela Coel returns to television with a new series called First Day on Earth. The series tells the story of a down-on-her-luck novelist who takes a job in Ghana where she may be able to reconnect with her estranged father. Coel not only stars in the series, but is also a producer and writer. Interestingly, Jesse Armstrongthe creator of “Consequence”, is also on board as executive producer.

There is no information yet on when First Day on Earth might appear on HBO, but production on the series is expected to begin in 2025.

British novelist Henri (Michaela Coel) is stuck. She’s out of work, her relationship isn’t progressing. When she’s offered a job on a film in Ghana, West Africa – her parents’ homeland, where her estranged father lives – she can’t resist the chance to reconnect with him and the country of her origins. But when she arrives, neither the job nor her father turn out as expected, and soon Henri must contend with danger and hypocrisy, make new friends, give up her illusions, and develop a new identity – one that may make her stronger, but could also break her.
