Young Cowboys DBs secure 2nd and 3rd INTs against Rams

Young Cowboys DBs secure 2nd and 3rd INTs against Rams

Give assistant head coach Al Harris his flowers now. Even though he’s fielding a secondary under a brand-new defensive coordinator and without his top three cornerbacks and top safeties, his team is still looking for action.

The Dallas Cowboys were known as turnover machines under Dan Quinn, leading the league in forced turnovers in both 2021 and 2022. It’s only the preseason and they struggled with Stetson Bennett all game, but the secondary doesn’t let their chances slip away. After dropping a pick on the opening drive, Markquese Bell made up for it the next time. The club had two more forced picks after that, letting the world know that mistakes are still punished under Mike Zimmer.

Eric Scott ended the first half by intercepting Bennett, keeping the Rams off the scoreboard and tying the game at 6-6. UDFA rookie safety Julius Wood did the same, thwarting a charge late in the third quarter in similar fashion.

Scott had a tough game, but turned the tables when he got into the throwing lane unnoticed by Bennett.

Wood’s game was a little more difficult as he had to take advantage of the bad pass to force the loss of possession.

However, Dallas was unable to capitalize on the three turnovers, losing the game twice on downs and the other time after the half expired.
