Crusoe Energy Systems invests million in Tulsa and creates 100 jobs

Cully Cavness, President and co-founder of Crusoe, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion.

“Scaling Crusoe’s manufacturing capabilities in Tulsa, where there is an exceptional business environment for innovation, is a key element of our strategy,” Cavness said. Demand for switchgear and other electrical components manufactured at the new facility is increasing due to growing power needs created by the electrification of industries such as transportation, as well as the rapid expansion of AI and data centers.

The new facility represents a significant expansion for Crusoe, which already has a small team in Tulsa focused on repairing field-deployed technology and components. The Tulsa manufacturing facilities will play a critical role in addressing the current supply shortage of critical components, which has been identified as a bottleneck to innovation and decarbonization in the industry.

The Tulsa Regional Chamber helped bring Crusoe to the city through its economic development initiative, Tulsa’s Future.

Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber, expressed his excitement about the development, saying, “Crusoe has pioneered digital infrastructure that utilizes wasted, unused or clean energy. It is this type of green technology that our community welcomes.”

Local leaders also welcomed Crusoe’s expansion in Tulsa. Mayor GT Bynum emphasized the city’s commitment to attracting forward-thinking companies like Crusoe, saying, “I am excited to welcome Crusoe to Tulsa as we work to attract the next generation of forward-thinking companies to our city.”

Crusoe, which has dual headquarters in Denver and San Francisco and operates in seven states and three countries, is focused on building and operating clean computing infrastructure. The company aims to align the future of computing with the future of the climate by harnessing wasted, unused and clean energy sources to power AI, cryptocurrencies and other high-performance computing applications.

Tulsa Innovation Labs, which supported the initial expansion of Crusoe’s technical remediation team in 2021, also welcomed the announcement. Louie Napoleone, director of local business partnerships at Tulsa Innovation Labs, said, “We are excited for Crusoe to continue to leverage our growing and ever-evolving ecosystem.”

The Tulsa facility is expected to make a significant contribution to the local economy while strengthening the region’s leadership in high-growth industries.
