This innovative product is designed to stop moderate to severe bleeding within seconds, potentially saving lives in gunshot or stab wound situations.
Cresilon, the company behind this medical breakthrough, expects it to be particularly beneficial for military personnel, government health authorities and emergency services.
Traumagel is a herbal hemostatic gel
Traumagel is a quickly applied, herbal gel that stops life-threatening bleeding in a matter of seconds. The syringe allows direct application to the wound.
“The ability to quickly stop bleeding on site and terminate life-threatening bleeding can mean the difference between life and death for people with traumatic injuries,” said Joe Landolina, CEO of Cresilon.
The company plans to launch Traumagel in late 2024 and package it in user-friendly 30 ml prefilled syringes to facilitate emergency use.
Traumagel’s versatility and prior FDA approval
The FDA previously approved a 5 ml version of trauma gel for treating minor cuts. The gel is also used in veterinary medicine, proving its versatility.
Cresilon stressed that traditional methods such as gauze bandages are less effective due to the preparation effort and longer application time.
In contrast, trauma gel can induce blood clotting without applying pressure to the wound, making it a more effective solution in cases of heavy bleeding.
The potential of trauma gel in trauma-related incidents
Landolina further explained the potential of trauma gel, stating that it is suitable for stab wounds, gunshot wounds and car accidents.
He emphasized that this product “will really be used wherever it stands between a patient and death.”

According to the American Red Cross, approximately 40% of all trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding, highlighting the urgent need for effective treatments such as trauma gel.
