This week, Girls That Create host Erin Prather Stafford offers a replay of her conversation with documentary filmmaker Amanda McBaine. McBaine directed and produced the 2024 film “Girls State” with her partner Jesse Moss. The film, which will stream on Apple TV+, takes its name from the Girls State program organized by American Legion auxiliary chapters across the U.S. The sessions are designed to educate and empower U.S. high school students after 11th grade and focus on exploring the mechanics of American government and politics.

Amanda McBaine is an American film director and producer. She co-directed and produced Girls State (2024), Boys State (2020), and The Mission (2023) with Jesse Moss. She also produced The Overnighters (2014), The Bandit (2016), and Mayor Pete (2021).
