Nio (NYSE: NIO) already has a dedicated website page for its operations in the United Arab Emirates and its own account on X as the company is close to entering the local market.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker’s UAE site is nio.com/en_AE. It currently contains only a brief description of the company and has not yet started showcasing models.

“Hello UAE, we are NIO,” reads the front page of the site, with the Nio logo below.

“NIO has been a global company since its inception. Our users, employees and investors come from all over the world,” a letter on the site said.

The letter reveals that Nio’s general manager in the UAE is Roberto Lopes Da Silva.

In 2023, Nio entered into a strategic partnership with CYVN Holdings, an investment company backed by the government of Abu Dhabi, to collaborate on international growth, the company said, adding that it is working to turn our mission into action, starting here in the UAE.

“We are committed to fostering a growing community in the UAE and building strong networks to provide the best possible experience for NIO users,” the letter said.

Nio created an account @NIOUAE on the X platform dedicated to its UAE business and posted its first two messages on August 16.

“Hello UAE. We are #NIO. Ready to build a sustainable and better future together?” wrote the account on X.

A Nio spokesperson confirmed to CnEVPost that the account is the official account of the company’s UAE business.

Nio will begin offering products and services in the United Arab Emirates later this year and preparations are underway, William Li, the company’s founder, chairman and CEO, said on a conference call on June 6.

Nio completed two investments from CYVN Holdings last year, making the Middle Eastern investor its largest shareholder, although Li still holds most voting rights.

Expanding its global presence to the Middle East this year after CYVN Holdings invested in Nio may have been a consensus between the two companies, 21jingji said in a June 12 report, citing a person close to Nio.

In the Middle East, Nio will take a lighter, more unique approach, the person said, without giving further details.

Here is the full text of the letter from Nio UAE’s website:

Hello friends from UAE,

NIO was founded in November 2014 to realize our mission of “Blue Sky Coming.” This year we celebrate our 10th anniversary.

Since delivering our first mass-produced vehicle in 2018, NIO has continued to be a market leader in premium battery-electric vehicles, providing premium products and services to a growing community of more than 557,000 users in China and Europe, including over 107,000 new users this year.

The automotive industry is going through profound changes. We believe the future belongs to safer and more comfortable smart electric vehicles, and we want to be a leader in this. In this future, not only products and technologies must change, but also the way people use these products and their overall experience with electric vehicles. When the experience exceeds expectations, electric vehicles simply become the natural choice for everyone and lead to a more sustainable future. In this way, we have accomplished our mission.

Since its inception, NIO has been a global company. Our users, employees, and investors come from all over the world. In 2023, we entered into a strategic partnership with CYVN Holdings, an investment firm backed by the Government of Abu Dhabi, to work together on international growth. Together, we are working to make our mission a reality, starting here in the UAE.

We look forward to working with our local partners to usher in a new era of smart electric vehicles. With our cutting-edge, full-stack technologies, we are confident that our vehicles will exceed the high standards of users in the UAE. We are committed to fostering a growing community in the UAE and building strong networks to provide the best possible experience for NIO users.

We look forward to working with you all to create a better and more sustainable future.

William Li, Founder, Chairman and CEO
