The author of “The Boys”, Garth Ennis, is adapting his comic “Crossed”

Comic book author Garth Ennis has had a pretty good few years. With adaptations of The boys on Prime Video and AMC’s Preacher, he now feels he has enough influence to have a more active say in which of his comics appear on television or in theaters, and he’s testing the waters with a film based on his and Jacen Burrows’ horror comic. They apparently want to finish the film as soon as possible because if everything goes according to plan, the film will go into production sometime this fall. According to producer Carl Choi, Ennis’ script is “the most faithful adaptation possible.” For people who need a comparison, Choi described it as “infection meets The Walking Dead“ with a shot civil war.

Crossed was first published in 2008 and revolves around the survivors of a pandemic that caused people to act out their innermost violent thoughts. The carriers retain their basic human intelligence and become known as “Crossed” thanks to the rash that appears on their faces. They spread the infection by coating weapons with their fluids. After the original comic concluded in 2010, it was continued by rotating creators, including Alan Moore, David Lapham, and Si Spurrier.

The Crossed The film is based on the original 10-part story by Ennis and Burrows and it is unknown if there are plans to make it into a larger franchise, as we currently see with The boys.
