(CNN) — More than 20 people were injured when a Ferris wheel caught fire at a music festival in Germany on Saturday evening.
Pictures show two cars on the fire ride as smoke rises at the Highfield Festival near the city of Leipzig.
According to the Saxon police, the ride caught fire shortly after 9 p.m. local time for reasons that are still unknown.
Four people suffered burns in the incident, the statement said, while another person had to be treated for fall injuries.
According to the statement, 18 people, including first responders, police officers and other participants in the ride, came into contact with the smoke and were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
The police have begun their investigation. The crime scene has been cordoned off.
German rapper Ski Aggu was performing on stage at the festival when the Ferris wheel caught fire. He later wrote in his Instagram stories that he was “dismayed and shocked” by the night’s events.
He added that he had been whispered in his ear that he should “under no circumstances cancel” the show, but rather remain in dialogue with the crowd to avoid mass panic.
