Anti-Israel protesters gathered outside the venue where the Democratic National Convention (DNC) will take place this week. Some of those present even called on voters to reject Kamala Harris.
The anti-Israel rally reportedly took place Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive – the first of many demonstrations to take place this week.
“WGN News found a demonstration organized by ‘Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws,’ a coalition of various feminist and pro-Palestinian groups; the latter issue will also be the focus on Monday,” WGNTV said.
Hatem Abudayyeh, coalition spokesman, told reporters that “tens of thousands” of people would take to the streets.
“Nearly 270 organizations from across the United States have joined the coalition for the march to the DNC,” Abudayyeh said. “Tens of thousands (of people) will take to the streets here in Union Park starting tomorrow, August 19, at noon to say, ‘Stop the genocide immediately, end U.S. aid to Israel, and liberate Palestine.'”
“Until 2pm, when we leave, we will fight for our rights and we will fight for this route,” Abudayyeh added.
Photos and videos of the protests began circulating on social media.
During a speech broadcast live on Facebook by Breitbart News, a woman accused Democrats of breaking their promises.
“My problem with the Democratic Party is that they tell us lies… They lie to us every single time,” the woman said. “So why should we vote for these Democrats? They do nothing for us. And I’m sick of them lying to us. Every single time.”
