“Barbie” director Greta Gerwig is reportedly set to write and direct two “Chronicles of Narnia” films for Netflix

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 – After recreating the fantastical plastic world of Barbie, director Greta Gerwig may next enter the magical land of Narnia.

The acclaimed director will reportedly write and direct two films The Chronicles of Narnia Film adaptations for Netflix, according to sources from The Hollywood Reporter.

This is part of Netflix’s long-term plan to revive the popular Narnia series in various films and television shows.

In 2018, Netflix acquired the film and television rights from the CS Lewis Company and added coconut Co-writer Matthew Aldrich will oversee the entire Narnia project.

Previously CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia The books were adapted into a film trilogy by Disney and 20th Century Fox.

The films were The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008) and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010).

Gerwig gained recognition for writing and directing the indie teen drama Ladybug and a film adaptation of Little Women.

Her latest film Barbieis a comedy about the legendary Mattel toys with Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

The star cast includes Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon and Dua Lipa.

Barbie will premiere in cinemas nationwide on July 20th.
