The Best Madness Build Guide for Noble Ring

The Best Madness Build Guide for Noble Ring

Elden Ring offers numerous status effects that can turn the battle in your favor. Inflicting Bleed on an enemy causes a significant amount of their health to be lost, Sleep makes an enemy vulnerable to attacks, and Scarlet Rot causes enemies to lose significant HP over time, to name a few. Most status effects are powerful and can trivialize boss fights. However, some, like Madness and Death Rot, have very specific uses and are primarily effective in PvP scenarios and rarely in PvE.

While Death Blight only works against downed enemies, Madness finds its purpose through its raw damage output rather than status building. Madness builds are generally avoided in PvE as most enemies are immune to the Madness effect. However, since Madness weapons and spells deal fire damage, you can create a powerful madness built in Elden Ring.

Follow this guide to learn about the best weapons, spells, armor, and stats for a Madness build Elden Ring.

Best Weapons and Seals for the Madness Build

Vyke's Warspear Elden Ring

Elden Ring has many powerful weapons with strong status effects, but in the case of Madness, the options are quite limited. Players who want a melee Madness build can get Vyke’s War Spear by defeating Festering Fingerprint Vyke on the way to the Church of Inhibition in northeastern Liurnia. As a large spear, this weapon has an excellent moveset, perfect for chasing enemies in PvP or performing safe thrust attacks in PvE. In addition to its innate Madness build, Vyke’s Warspear features a powerful Ash of War that ignites the ground with the flames of frenzy.

Elden Ring - Promised Husband Radahn - Fingerprint Stone Shield

In addition to Vyke’s War Spear, you can also Fingerprint Stone Shield one of the best shields in Elden Ring. This shield also has a Madness build and an offensive Ash of War called Shield Bash. Even without considering the Madness build, Vyke’s Warspear combined with the Fingerprint Stone Shield makes for a strong Shield Bash build that works well in all scenarios.

Details about the Mad Hand in the Elden Ring, Shadow of the Earth Tree

The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Earth Tree DLC has added another melee option for fans of Madness – the Crazy Hand . This fist weapon has a fast moveset that allows you to quickly build up Madness on enemies that are vulnerable to it. Additionally, the Madding Hand gives a slight attack boost when Madness occurs nearby. While the weapon itself isn’t particularly impressive, it can be used to deal a little more damage.

Elden Ring Earth Tree Seal Location Guide

In addition to the Madness Weapons, you should cast Raging Flame Summons, as these are the main stars of any Madness build. To ensure that your summons do appropriate damage, the Holy Seal you choose is crucial. Since all Madness Summons require Faith, the Erdtree seal is the best Holy Seal for a Madness build. If you want to focus solely on spells, it’s also a good idea to use the Seal of Raging Flame in your off-hand for an additional damage bonus to Madness summons.

Best Raging Flame Incantations for Insanity Builds

Elden Ring Frenzied Flame Spell

Frenzied Flame is one of the most powerful magic classes in Elden Ring. Almost all Frenzied Flame summons are strong and effective. The only downside to using them is the insanity build on the caster. Here are the best Frenzied Flame summons that can be included in an insanity build:

  • The Howl of Shabriri : One of the best buffs in Elden RingShabriri’s Howl increases damage by 25%, but causes you to take more damage and attract enemy aggression. Since it’s a body buff, you can combine Shabriri’s Howl with an aura buff like Golden Vow. This spell is available from a chest on the Frenzy-Flaming Tower in northeast Liurnia.
  • The Flame of Rage : Arguably the most powerful madness spell, Flame of Frenzy can be collected from the Callu Baptismal Church on the Weeping Peninsula without having to fight enemies. It also only requires 16 Faith, so Prophet class characters can cast it without leveling up. It can be charged and cast until the madness effect is triggered. With the right build, you’ll likely kill the enemy before the madness is triggered.
  • Raging explosion : The ranged attack of a Madness build. It shoots a beam of raging fire that can travel surprisingly long distances. Charging the spell increases the damage and makes the beam travel faster. You can find this spell in a scarab on the way to the Church of Inhibition.
  • Unbearable rage : This is an endgame spell that is only available after reaching the Hallowed Snowfield. It is found in a chest in the ruins of Yelough Anix. Although it is not available until late in the game, Unendurable Frenzy is outperformed by The Flame of Frenzy. The only benefit of using Unendurable Frenzy is that it can be cast continuously until you run out of FP or are struck with madness.

Two spells of the Raging Flame type were not mentioned in the list – Inevitable frenzy and Midra’s Flame of Frenzy. Inescapable Frenzy is a deadly spell, but it only works against downed enemies at very close range. Even in PvP battles, it’s almost impossible to hit a player with Inescapable Frenzy. However, you can use it against downed PvE enemies to easily trick them.

Elden Ring: The 10 best flame spells, ranked player summons the Lord of the Raging Flame

What Midras Flame of Frenzy it is a DLC exclusive spell that is obtainable by exchanging the memory of the Lord of the Raging Flame. This spell requires two slots and has a higher insanity build compared to other Raging Flame summons, and it is not a particularly powerful spell overall for its FP and spell slot cost. The Greatsword of Doom is a much better choice than Midra’s Flame of Frenzy when exchanging the memory of the Lord of the Raging Flame.

Best Armor for Madness Build

When it comes to armor, most builds offer flexible options so the wearer can choose their own style. However, fans of Madness builds need to be careful when choosing an armor set, as you need high Focus to slow down the build of Madness. Here are some armor recommendations with high Focus values:

  • Loneliness Set (exclusive DLC): This armor set is a reward for defeating the Blackgaol Knight in the Western Nameless Mausoleum. You can get this armor set quite early in the DLC, as the Western Nameless Mausoleum is located in the Gravesite Plain near the start of SOT.
  • Mushroom set : While it’s not the best armor set for stance, it has the highest focus of any base game armor. You can get this set from Seethewater Cave, which is located north of the Seethewater River in Altus Plateau.
  • Fire Prelate Set : Simply one of the best armor sets in Elden Ringthe Fire Prelate set features high balance, strong resistances to fire and physical attacks, and most importantly, plenty of focus points. This set drops from the Fire Prelate enemies in Giant Peaks, and a modified version of the chest plate can drop from the Fire Prelate in Fort Laiedd in Mt. Gelmir.

Best Talismans for Insane Builds

Madness builds talismans

There are many powerful talismans that can be used in a Madness build Elden Ring. Ideally, you should carry a mix of offensive and defensive talismans to take on powerful enemies. If you are confident in your evasion skills, you can also use only offensive talismans:

  • Shard of Alexander : This talisman is recommended for players who use Vyke’s Warspear in their Madness build. Since you’ll be using the Ashes of War from this weapon a lot, the extra damage from Shard of Alexander makes a significant difference.
  • Fire Scorpion Pendant : Equipping the corresponding Scorpion Charm talisman is essential for each elemental build. All Frenzied Flame summons deal fire damage, so this talisman provides a 12% damage increase on fire attacks in exchange for reduced damage negation.
  • Flocks Canvas Talisman : Although you have to go through Gowry’s questline to get Flock’s Canvas Talisman, it’s worth having for summoning builds. In Madness builds, your main sources of damage are spells like The Flame of Frenzy and Frenzied Burst. This Talisman increases the damage of all summoning incantations by 8%.
  • Radagon Symbol : A common problem with many summons is their long animations. Fortunately, the Radagon Symbol shortens the casting time by providing virtual dexterity points. Players who find that casting summons with Raging Flame is too slow will benefit from the Radagon Symbol Talisman.
  • Godfrey symbol : In a Madness build, Flame of Frenzy and Frenzied Burst are the two most commonly used summons. Both can be charged for additional damage, which can be further increased by using the Godfrey symbol.
  • Clarifying Horn Spell : If you’re not using an armor set with a high focus value, the Clarifying Horn Charm talisman is a lifesaver. The +2 variant of this talisman increases focus by 230, which is the same focus that the best armor sets offer.
  • Cheers from an elder : This talisman grants a basic 20% attack boost when insanity occurs nearby.

Best Class and Stats for Madness Build

A Prophet player in Elden Ring

Since all summons of the Frenzied Flame require Faith, the Prophet starting class is the best choice for a Madness build in Elden Ring. This class starts with 16 Faith, which allows you to use the Flame of Frenzy spell immediately. As far as stats go, you should primarily focus on increasing Faith to meet the requirements for all other Frenzy spells, but make sure you also increase Strength and Spirit in the process. Here is a recommendation for a level 125 Madness build using the Earthtree Seal along with Vyke’s Warspear:

  • Power: 40
  • Spirit: 30
  • Endurance: 20
  • Strength: 16
  • Dexterity: 20
  • Intelligence: 7
  • Faith: 61
  • Arcane: 10

If you want to do more damage with Vyke’s Warspear, invest points in Dexterity instead of Faith. For a spell-focused build, prioritize Faith, Wits, and Vigor.

Once you have completed your Madness build, you will need to decide on buffs for the build. Madness builds already have an excellent buff in Howl of Shabriri. You can supplement it with Golden Vow, Aged One’s Exultation, and Black dumpling Headgear. As for the bottle of miraculous medicine, the fire-enveloping tear tear is a must, and the second crystal tear can be either the faith knot crystal tear, the speckled hard tear, or the spiked tear tear.
