NAGOA: The PAX of Nagoa Sports Club, ahead of the start of their 2024 season, participated in the Eucharist on Monday to invoke blessings on Sunday at the Church of Our Lady of Help and Good Success in Nagoa.

The mass celebrated by parish priest Father Edson marked a solemn and inspiring start to a season that promises to be historic for the club.

In the presence of all the players, the team gathered to receive the blessing for the upcoming season. Father Edson also blessed the team’s jerseys, a symbolic act that gave new energy and commitment to the players and staff.

Following the fair, the team gathered at a restaurant in Nagoa for a dinner that was more than just a meal – it was an evening of bonding and setting the tone for the upcoming season.

Head coach Mateus Costa and team manager Osric Cabral addressed the players and gave motivational speeches in which they emphasized the club’s unity, hard work and ambition.

Costa, known for his tactical sense, spoke about the importance of teamwork while Cabral reiterated the club’s aim of winning its first Goa Pro League title.

The evening provided an opportunity for the players to strengthen their camaraderie before they take to the field in the prestigious Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy at the Chowgule Grounds in Margao on Monday, August 12.

The narrow defeat last season, in which the team fought for the Goa Professional League title until the last day, is still fresh in the mind. The team is determined to do even better this year. The goal is clear: to win the Goa Pro League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

As the team prepares for this crucial first test, there is a sense of optimism and determination among players and staff alike.
