Romulus, which caused the cast and crew to shut down

Previously directed by the likes of Ridley Scott and James Cameron, Foreigner The film series is one of the bloodiest and most gruesome science fiction series of all time. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, Fede Álvarez’ Alien: Romulus contains plenty of gruesome scenes that will make fans’ blood run cold.

However, there is one scene that Isabela Merced revealed months before the film’s release that even made the cast and crew turn away from the screen. After the film’s release on August 16, fans realized that the actress had not lied.

The Foreigner The franchise, launched in 1979 by Ridley Scott on a Kickstarter basis, is one of the best science fiction franchises of all time. Part of its appeal lies not in its science fiction element, but in its bloody and scary scenes, which are often disgustingly brutal to watch. While the previous films contained some of the most engaging scenes, Fede Álvarez’ Alien: Romulus goes even further and features several scenes inspired by the franchise’s previous cult titles.

A standalone interquel between Foreigner And AliensSet 20 years after Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking film and 37 years before James Cameron’s Oscar-winning sequel, the film is full of Easter eggs and has several sickening scenes that would leave even the most avid horror fans on the edge of their seats.

As Isabela Merced revealed to THR, one scene in particular was so gruesome that even the actors and crew refused to watch it.

There’s a scene I’m in and everyone had to turn away. No one would stop and look at the iPad because it was so gross.

Although Merced’s interview took place in February, fans now agree that she wasn’t wrong. After the film’s release, many have revisited her comments and acknowledged that the actress didn’t exaggerate the film’s intensity.

Isabela Merced warned fans about Alien: Romulus gruesome nature months before the film’s release. With several memorable but notably horrific scenes, Fede Álvarez hasn’t hesitated to go all out to give fans some of the most heartbreaking experiences. While we don’t know for sure which scene Merced called gruesome, many believe it was either Navrro’s breast bursting scene or Elizabeth Shaw’s scene where she gives birth to an alien.

When Merced’s months-old comments resurfaced, many, including industry insider Daniel Richtman, claimed that the actress was only telling the truth.

The debut was received mostly positively by critics and fans. Alien: Romulus has also had a strong start at the worldwide box office (see THR). The eighth part of the Foreigner The film tells the story of several young colonists who experience horror when they stumble upon an abandoned space station.

With things looking good for the film so far, fans believe that the latest flick has breathed new life into the sci-fi franchise.

Alien: Romulus is now in theaters.
