Nuss and Kloth win gold at the AVP Manhattan Beach Open – LSU

Manhattan Beach, California. – Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth won the AVP Manhattan Beach Open title on Sunday afternoon in Manhattan Beach, California.

The pair will make their first Olympic appearance in Paris, France. Nuss and Kloth are the first Olympic pair to emerge from LSU volleyball.

Nuss and Kloth are no strangers to their beach volleyball careers. During their time at LSU, they quickly established themselves as the best collegiate beach volleyball pairing in the country, posting a perfect 36-0 record on Court 1 and winning on a consistent basis in dominant fashion. After the perfect season, Nuss had amassed 139 wins, making her the winningest collegiate beach volleyball player of all time, and Kloth had won 49 consecutive matches to finish her college career.

After the college season, Kloth and Nuss quickly began their professional careers and formed their TKN team. They enjoyed a successful rookie season on the AVP Tour. Kloth and Nuss immediately attracted attention, winning their first AVP Gold Series event at the 2021 Atlanta Open after playing their way from the qualifying tournament into the main draw. Kloth and Nuss were named the 2021 AVP Co-Rookies of the Year and Nuss was named the AVP Defender of the Year. They won three more AVP events in 2022, becoming the only duo on Tour to win multiple events during the year. In 2023, the pair was named the AVP Women’s Team of the Year and Nuss was named the AVP Most Valuable Player and Defender.
