Filming for season 2 of the Netflix reality series A piece The series has been running for a few weeks now, and while many of the new cast members that will help bring the popular anime characters to life have already been announced, there are still a few that have yet to be revealed.
Chief among them is Dr. Kureha, the 139-year-old doctor of Drum Island and ally of the Straw Hat Pirates. For months, Jamie Lee Curtis was considered for the role, but in July it was confirmed that he would not be the case. Becky Clements, executive producer of One Piece, explained that scheduling conflicts prevented Curtis from joining the cast of the live-action series.
With Curtis out and Netflix yet to make an official announcement, fans have taken it upon themselves to find out who will play Dr. Kureha in the series. The current fan theory speculates that actress Katey Sagal could now be the one to take on the role.
On social media, fans pointed to a recent segment featuring Katey Sagal, where the actress was asked to promote her next project. Unfortunately, a non-disclosure agreement prevented her from revealing what it was, but what she said apparently led some to believe she was cast in the role. A piece Season 2.
“I have a really good thing, but I signed a non-disclosure agreement, so I can’t say. I can’t say what I’m going to do.” Said Sagal. “I’m going very far away very soon and I can’t talk about it.”
Katey just said she has a new project that she can’t really talk about yet. I’m pretty sure she’s been cast as Dr. Kureha in the second season of Netflix’s live-action series ONE PIECE.

As A piece Season 2 will be filmed in South Africa, with many fans believing that this could be the “very far away” filming location. And “next year” could refer to the 2025 release of Season 2. Based on these comments alone, it’s a bit of a stretch, but Sagal has been linked to the role in the past.
Katey Sagal is an incredibly successful actress, best known for her role as Peggy Bundy in the popular series. A terribly nice familywhich ran from 1987 to 1997. She also played Leela in FuturamaCate Hennessy in 8 simple rulesand Gemma Teller Morrow about the FX series Sons of AnarchySagal won the 2011 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama for her role in Sons of Anarchy.
While fans were initially disappointed that Curtis would not be playing Dr. Kuhera in the live-action One Piece film, there is no doubt that Katey Sagal will be great in the role – if the speculation is true. Netflix has not made any announcement yet.
