How would you like the chance to tee off with Adam Sandler?
The Sandman is back with the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 hit Happy Gilmore, and there is an open casting call for extras in the New Jersey area.
No acting experience is required.
Filming for the sequel, which is set to premiere on Netflix, will take place in the Garden State from September to November.
The open casting call will be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 1-8pm in the Plaza Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Morristown. See the Instagram post below for more details.
What we know about “Happy Gilmore 2”
Sandler co-wrote the original film, in which Gilmore is a failed hockey player who discovers his natural but very unorthodox talent for golf. He uses his amazing golfing skills and poor touring golf etiquette to raise money and save his grandmother’s house from foreclosure – and his smug nemesis Shooter McGavin.
“Damn it, guys, this is golf, not a rock concert!” McGavin would say.
Speculation about a sequel has been rife since March, when actor Christopher McDonald, who played McGavin, mentioned the possibility during an appearance on the Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima.
“I saw Adam about two weeks ago and he said to me, ‘McDonald, you’re going to like this,'” McDonald said. “I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘How about this,’ and showed me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ … and I thought, ‘Well, that would be great.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans, demand it, damn it!”
Sandler, 57, confirmed the news weeks later during an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show.”
“We already have a million ideas,” Sandler said. “We just need to make a movie out of it and make sure we’re excited if people like it. That’s important. We love Happy Gilmore and don’t want to disappoint anyone.”

Netflix, which has worked with Sandler on a number of projects including “Hustle” and “Murder Mystery,” has not yet announced any plot details for the sequel or a premiere date.
Since the sequel was announced almost 30 years after the release of the original, several key cast members have passed away.
Carl Weathers, who played Chubbs Peterson, a former professional golfer who becomes Gilmore’s mentor, died in February. Bob Barker, the legendary game show host who gets into a brawl with Gilmore while the two are partners in a pro-am tournament, died in 2023 at age 99. Joe Flaherty, who played a fan who taunted Gilmore on the golf course, died just last month.
“We love these guys, they play such a big role in the movie and they’re just great people,” Sandler told Patrick. “But we’ll work them in somehow.”
Sandler and Patrick mentioned the possibility that Drew Carey, the current host of “The Price is Right,” could make a cameo appearance in the sequel.
“Out of respect for Bob, I would love for Drew Carey to be in this movie,” he said.
The original film, which became a cult classic with box office revenues of around $40 million, also starred Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller and Kevin Nealon.
Everything could return if Happy Gilmore finally returns to his happy place.
“We’re trying very hard to give everyone a good reason to watch the show and have fun,” Sandler told Patrick. “Netflix is excited about it. So we’re working on it. We have some good ideas.”
