Trump campaign offers possible flight with JD Vance in Air Force 2

On Sunday afternoon, Donald Trump’s campaign offered supporters the chance to win a flight on Air Force Two with Ohio Senator JD Vance, who the campaign hopes will be in the White House after this year’s presidential election.

The fundraiser is asking supporters to enter the drawing to win “this once-in-a-lifetime, all expenses paid trip” by donating any amount to the Trump-Vance campaign.

In an email blast Sunday, the campaign team wrote, “JD Vance didn’t just ask anyone to join… He asked for YOU, a true MAGA patriot!” referring to the former president’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

The email is linked to an online donation page, where a banner displays who has just donated and how much money has been donated. Air Force Two is always the plane used by the US Vice President; currently it is Vice President Kamala Harris’s plane.

The logistics of the flight have not yet been finalized, as it is unclear when and where the plane will fly, and it is hypothetical, as the election has not yet taken place.

Newsweek reached out to the Trump team via email on Sunday for details.

The campaign email comes less than two weeks after the Harris and Trump campaigns released their July fundraising numbers, with the vice president’s campaign raising more than double Trump’s.

Harris entered the presidential race on July 21 after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. In the first week of her announced candidacy, she raised $200 million, for a total of $310 million a month, according to campaign data. Campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz said Harris raised more than $81 million within the first 24 hours of Biden’s announcement.

The Harris campaign also said it had $377 million in cash on hand at the beginning of August, the most any presidential candidate has raised at this point in the election cycle. In comparison, the Trump campaign had $327 million in cash on hand at the beginning of August.

July was also an eventful month for Trump’s campaign. During a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, a gunman opened fire on a nearby rooftop about 130 meters away, wounding the former president and two attendees. 50-year-old former firefighter Corey Comperatore was also killed.

A few days later, Trump appeared at the Republican National Convention (RNC) to accept his official nomination and announce Vance as his vice presidential candidate.

Trump’s campaign reported raising $138.7 million in July. On Saturday, Trump attended a private fundraising dinner in Aspen, Colorado, which, according to The Aspen Times There were different participation levels ranging from $25,000 to $500,000 per couple.

Harris is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser in San Francisco on Sunday night alongside former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California. Tickets for the Harris Victory Fund event ranged from $3,300 to $50,000, and according to NBC News, a campaign official said the event was sold out. Nearly 700 people had registered, bringing in more than $12 million for the campaign.
