Everyone’s favorite superfamily is coming back to the screen, because The Incredibles 3 is officially in progress as upcoming Pixar film.
When The Incredibles When it hit theaters in 2004, it rocked the world. Not only was the animation spectacular, true to Pixar standards, but the story was great, the music phenomenal, and the characters became icons for Pixar as a whole. Fourteen years later The Incredibles 2 was released and became the most successful Pixar film to date (that is, until Inside Out 2 generated over one billion dollars). It may not be one of Pixar’s best filmsbut it’s still a great continuation of the story.
Now we know that The Incredibles 3 is finally in development. Details are minimalbut it’s still exciting to talk about and look forward to. Here’s what we know so far.
What is the release date of “The Incredibles 3”?
From August 2024 there will be no set release date for The Incredibles 3, which is not a big surprise. The film was just announced as part of D23 2024, so it would be pretty shocking if we already had a release date.
I honestly don’t think we’ll get it anytime soon. Although Pixar has no further films for the Cinema program 2024, There are already a lot of plans for the next few years, including the science fiction film, Elio, the high expected Toy Story 5, a new original film called Funnel, and a Disney+ original series called Win or lose.
The earliest We could potentially see this movie in 2027, but given how long it took for the first sequel to come out, I would say very patient.
The Incredibles 3 – Cast
There is no fixed cast for The Incredibles 3, but since the entire cast of the first film came back for the second, we may see them again. Here’s a refresher on who from the main cast lent their voices to whom:
- Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible
- Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl
- Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr
- Huckleberry Milner as Dashiell “Dash” Parr
- Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best/Frozone
- Brad Bird as Edna Mode
Additionally, Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener joined the cast in the second film to provide the voices of Winston Deavor and Evelyn Deavor/Screenslaver, respectively, so we may hear them again in some form.
Another character we might see again is the colorful villain The Underminer, which appeared at the end The Incredibles and the beginning of The Incredibles 2, So that would be a nice way to tie in the films. But nothing is confirmed yet. We can only wait and see.
What is “The Incredibles 3” about?
Obviously we know nothing about The Incredibles 3 because it was just announced. But we know that The Incredibles 2 ends with Helen (Elastagirl) capturing Screenslaver (Evelyn) and stopping her from ruining the reputation of all superheroes around the world in hopes of getting them banned. Thanks to the family’s collaboration with other people with superpowers, superheroes around the world regain their legal status and the Parrs realize their heroic role.
I’m not sure what this means for the story to come, but what I do know is that there are so many things we want to see in The Incredibles 3, and I’m happy with literally anything as long as it’s as fun as the last two movies.
Brad Bird will return
The only thing we officially know, as confirmed at D23 this year, is that Brad Bird is officially back to direct the third film. Bird is responsible for the last two The Incredibles Films and directed highly underrated classic Chicken breast fillet. He also directed The Iron Giant, which is praised as one of the best animated films of all time.
Honestly, this makes me even more excited for The Incredibles 3, and I will watch.
What are you most looking forward to? The Incredibles 3? All I know is that I’m ready to take on more villains and cheer on these superheroes on the big screen again.
