Helen Flanagan explains why she didn’t tell her ex Scott Sinclair about Celebs Go Dating

Actress Helen Flanagan has explained why she decided to take part in the new season of Celebs Go Dating and why she didn’t tell her former partner Scott Sinclair.

The couple ended their relationship two years ago, after 13 years together. They have three children together, two daughters and a son.

In conversation with the Mirror Helen admitted she hasn’t spoken to her ex about her plans to take part in the show and just wants to “do her own thing”. The Coronation Street star has previously revealed that she and Scott, who currently plays for League One club Bristol Rovers, mainly communicate through their parents and avoid arguments in front of their three children.

On her reasons for signing up to ‘Celebs Go Dating’, the soap actress said: “I’m a huge fan of the show.

She added: “I have three kids and I’m a single mom, so I don’t get to watch a lot of what I want to watch because my kids fight over what they want to watch. But I really love it, especially now that I’m a single mom.”

“I find the psychology fascinating, why people are the way they are. And why people put themselves in situations or why they feel attracted to certain men. It’s just interesting.”

Helen explained that every now and then E4 viewers can identify with at least one of the celebrities on the show.

She continued, “I feel like everyone in the cast can relate to all of us. Everyone can relate to one of our stories. I think everyone would draw comfort from any of our stories.”

Helen admitted that despite her reasons for taking part and although she really enjoyed being part of such a personal show, she sometimes struggled with the idea of taking part in such a personal show.

“I really enjoyed it,” she said. “The deep dives we do can be difficult because I’m quite sensitive and it can be weird to see things that are so personal and so dear to you end up in a headline because it’s your life.”

“But then you put yourself in the spotlight so much that I’m always torn about what to make of it. Sometimes it can be very empowering to do a show like this and you can enjoy it, but sometimes it’s weird to see your personal life in the headlines.”

She will be joined by a number of other celebrities, including influencer Lauryn Goodman and reality star Tristan Phipps.

Celebs Go Dating starts on Monday 19 August at 9pm on E4.
