Asif: Government builds Bangladesh’s first sports institute

Under the slogan “Center of Excellence”, a sports institute is to be established for the first time in Bangladesh on the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The main objective of establishing the Sports Institute is to achieve national recognition by increasing the physical and mental capabilities of athletes and developing sports techniques and leadership qualities.

Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, briefed the media about the plans and measures in this regard at a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday, reports BSS.

Mohiuddin Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, was also present at the time.

“Talks are underway to establish a sports institute that will provide specialized sports services and infrastructure facilities through effective collaboration with renowned national and international sports institutions,” the sports consultant said.

“Our goal is to produce qualified athletes at the international level and achieve better results at the international level. Many developed countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), the United States of America (USA), China and France, have achieved incredible success in the field of sports by combining sports and science in an impeccable manner.

“Bangladesh also wants to achieve this goal through the Bangladesh Sports Institute.”

He further said that experts from Bangladesh and abroad will work together in sports institutes to train the athletes to achieve these goals.

“To ensure quality of service and achieve desired results, experts from home and abroad will join the Bangladesh Sports Institute. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is committed to implementing this project as soon as possible. As a centre of excellence, the Bangladesh Sports Institute will be a boon to the sports community.”

The sports adviser said his ministry is taking various initiatives to maintain a fair environment and fair activities in all areas of sports.
