USWNT striker Trinity Rodman is making a name for herself on the Olympic stage and ushering in a new era in US women’s soccer.
After briefly attending Washington State University, 22-year-old Rodman was selected as the second overall draft pick for the Washington Spirit. At just 18 years old, Rodman became the youngest player ever drafted and was named Rookie of the Year and US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year in 2021.
Rodman is determined to make a name for herself that goes beyond that of her father, Basketball Hall of Famer and successful NBA player Dennis Rodman.
“People sometimes know Trinity Rodman before Dennis Rodman,” she told ESPN in June 2022. “That’s a cool thing for me. I’m not trying to surpass what he accomplished, I just want to build my own story, and I think I’m doing a really good job.”

Trinity Rodman started playing football at the age of 4
Trinity has been perfecting her craft for as long as she can remember. She was born into a family of athletes: her father played in the NBA, her mother, Michelle Moyerwho did track and field and played softball during high school, and her brother, Dennis Rodman Jr.plays basketball at the University of Southern California. Trinity also played basketball in her youth before deciding to focus on her soccer career.

Although her father is a well-known public figure, Rodman was raised primarily by her mother. Moyer raised Trinity and her brother in Newport Beach, California, and lived separately from Dennis before their divorce. Moyer told the Los Angeles Times in July 2023 that her ex was keeping her and their children “financially and emotionally distant.”
“People have no idea, no idea at all,” Moyer told ESPN in June 2022. “It’s been a roller coaster ride of sometimes having money, sometimes not having money.”
She is the author of a children’s book
Trinity released a children’s book in collaboration with Adidas in March 2022. Wake up and move on was released after her career-defining freshman year, inspired by her journey of “paving her own unique path” and learning to “take each day as it comes.”
“This is a book that will awaken and encourage children from all walks of life to see the incredible possibilities in every single day,” she wrote on Instagram.
In a separate statement, she expressed her excitement that the book “will inspire the next generation to go out and achieve their goals and dreams, and prove that nothing is unattainable if you are willing to work for it.”

Trinity and Benson made their Instagram profile official in May 2024: Trinity posted photos of the two cuddling up on a bench with the caption “Trinity squared 🫣😘”.
Trinity’s NWSL friends reacted in the comments, Angel City FC’s Alyssa Thompson and said: “She went straight to the hard start.”

Trinity Rodman will compete for Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
Trinity made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games, taking her team to the semifinals after scoring an overtime goal against Japan. She is the youngest player in USWNT history to score in an Olympic knockout game, and she is just getting started.
“I have vivid memories of what happened,” Trinity said after the game. “I came into the box, received a beautiful pass and then I shot. It wasn’t that I didn’t have confidence in my shot, but at the same time I couldn’t believe it. That was the best moment of my career.”
