Arsenal celebrated a 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening Premier League match on Saturday afternoon.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scored in the first and second half respectively, but it was not a routine victory for the Gunners.

David Raya had to be alert between the posts. The Spaniard made three important saves, including one against Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The 24-year-old’s header in the 36th minute seemed to be on its way to the net, but Raya saved with a brilliant save from close range.

He initially moved to the left, but was able to adjust his body balance excellently and execute a powerful defensive shot with his right hand.

After the game, O’Neil admitted he was surprised by Raya’s sensational block to prevent a first-half equaliser.

He added that great goalkeepers who are chasing titles have the ability to create magical moments that can change games.

He said (about James Benge): “I don’t know how David Raya is holding him. Everyone thought he was in the net.”

“Great goalkeepers on great teams chasing titles sometimes create magical moments that can change games.”

Arsenal’s defense was anything but tight against Wolves and there were numerous errors in defense that went unpunished.

William Saliba gave Wolves the best chance with a poor pass, but fortunately Matheus Cunha’s attempt was weak and went straight to Raya.

Thomas Partey was also guilty of carelessly losing the ball in midfield and the Gunners will have to improve their performance next weekend.

They play away at Aston Villa, who beat them twice in the league last season.

It will not be an easy encounter no matter how you look at it, and Arsenal could pay a heavy price if they do not reduce their errors.
