The 123rd season of the Italian top football league began on Saturday, August 17, with the kick-off of Serie A.
Defending champions Inter Milan played on the opening night when they travelled to Genoa.
Last season, Inter became the second most successful team in Serie A, winning its 20th league title, surpassing local rivals AC Milan by one title. Inter now trail only Juventus, who have won the championship 36 times.
Parma, along with Como and Venezia, were promoted to Serie A for the 2024–25 season, while Frosinone, Sassuolo and Salernitana were relegated to Serie B.
