Connected car technology is the next big trend in the Indian automobile industry. Today, most car buyers opt for a vehicle that supports or offers connected car technology. Hyundai was the first manufacturer to launch connected car technology for Indian consumers. Hyundai’s BlueLink technology was introduced with the Venue compact SUV. 1) Hyundai Venue
Hyundai Venue was the first vehicle from Hyundai to offer BlueLink connected car technology. Hyundai Venue is priced at Rs 6.75 lakhs ex-showroom. Hyundai Creta 2020, Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Elantra also feature the same technology.
2) Hyundai Tucson
The Tucson is Hyundai’s current flagship model, so it makes sense that it offers BlueLink connected car technology. The SUV was recently launched in India and features some cosmetic upgrades and a new 8-speed automatic transmission with torque converter. Hyundai Tucson is priced at Rs 22.3 lakhs ex-factory.
3) Hyundai i20
The latest model in the Hyundai range is the i20. The i20 not only offers BlueLink technology but also other features that even the Creta and Verna do not offer.
4) Tata Nexon
The Nexon was Tata’s first car to come with the connected car technology. They call it ‘iRA’ or intelligent Real-time Assist. It can perform live vehicle diagnostics, provide accident information, raise alarm in case of a break-in, set up geofences, track your vehicle and more. 5) MG Hector
The Hector was MG Motors’ first SUV. It was very successful in the market and featured MG’s i-Smart connected car technology. The MG Hector is one of the most well-equipped connected cars currently in the market. It comes with features like remote control, track car, geofencing, OTA updates and much more. MG is currently working on a facelift of the Hector which is expected to hit showrooms in 2021. The MG Hector Plus also features the same technology.
6) MG Gloster
The Gloster is MG Motors’ flagship SUV. It comes with i-Smart 2.0 connected car technology. The new technology offers more features than the i-Smart 1.0 available on other MG models. The MG Gloster is available starting at Rs 29.98 lakhs (ex-showroom).
7) MG ZS EV
MG offers a special version of the i-Smart technology called i-SMART EV 2.0. This technology is specifically designed for electric vehicles and is currently available only on the ZS EV. The MG ZS EV is priced starting at Rs. 20.88 lakhs ex-showroom
8) Kia Soul
Kia’s latest model comes with UVO connected car technology. It is already a huge success in the Indian market. The Sonet is Kia’s first compact SUV. It costs Rs 6.71 lakh ex-factory. Both the Kia Seltos and the Kia Carnival come with similar connected car technology.
9) Ford EcoSport
The Ford Ecosport comes with FordPass connected car technology. This allows the user to control the vehicle through remote start/stop, remote lock/unlock, location tracking and more through the application. The Ford Ecosport is priced starting at Rs 819,000 ex-showroom. Ford Aspire, Ford Freestyle and Ford Endeavour come with the same technology. 10) Ford Fiesta
The Ford Figo is one of the best handling hatchbacks currently available in the Indian market. It is currently the most affordable vehicle that Ford offers. Ford also offers its connected car technology with the Figo despite it being the most affordable vehicle in their lineup. The Ford Figo starts at Rs. 5.49 lakhs ex-showroom
11) Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass was a hit when it was launched. It is the cheapest model that Jeep currently sells in India. Jeep offers UConnect on the SUV, which gives the user the ability to flash the headlights, honk, remote start the vehicle, locate it, etc. through connected car technology. The Jeep Compass is available starting at Rs 16.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).
12) Nissan Maxima
Nissan Magnite is the latest compact SUV in this segment. It is the most affordable compact SUV you can buy. It also offers Nissan’s connected technology Nissan Connect which offers service history, service booking, automated roadside assistance, geofencing, vehicle status and much more. Nissan Magnite starts at Rs. 4.99 lakhs ex-showroom. Nissan Kicks also has similar technology with over 50 features
13) Volkswagen Polo
The Volkswagen Polo TSI is one of the most powerful and handling compact cars in the Indian market. If you are an avid driver, the Polo could be the best option for you. Volkswagen offers its Volkswagen Connect technology that works through a dongle that plugs into the car’s on-board diagnostics (OBD) port. Volkswagen Connect offers anti-theft alarm, service history, geofencing and more. These features are only available on the GT variant, which costs Rs 9.67 lakhs ex-factory. The Vento also has similar features.
14) Honda City
The 5th generation Honda City was the first vehicle from the Japanese manufacturer to come with connected car technology. The Honda City comes with Honda Connect connected car technology. It offers 32 features that can be controlled remotely. The City also has Amazon Alexa capabilities. The 2020 Honda City is available starting at Rs. 10.89 lakhs, ex-showroom.
15) Toyota Innova Crysta
The Innova Crysta recently received a facelift where Toyota introduced its connected car technology. It can track the vehicle, create geo-fences and save the parking spot. The Toyota Innova Crysta is available starting at 16.26 lakhs (ex-showroom).
