Three people arrested and charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Three people were arrested and charged with drug offenses following a traffic stop in Chesterfield County.

While patrolling Winburn Lake Road in response to recent drug complaints, an officer with the Chesterfield County Narcotics Unit noticed a blue Nissan Sentra suddenly pull over. Officers said they observed the driver and passenger switch places, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered methamphetamine in the car. This led to the arrest of Carey L. Capps of Hartsville, Robert S. VanHorn Jr. of Hartsville and Dustin E. Gainey of McBee. All three individuals were charged with possession with intent to resell.

In addition, there were warrants out for Gainey’s arrest from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Chesterfield County officials are asking if the public is aware of any drug-related activity in the community to contact the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 843-287-0235.
