The NFL world can’t stop talking about Caleb Williams’ electrifying preseason performance

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams reminded everyone on Saturday why he was the undisputed first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Williams made his debut at Soldier Field on Saturday when the Bears hosted the Cincinnati Bengals for their third preseason game of the year. On his final series, Williams wowed the fans in attendance with a spectacular throw to fellow rookie Rome Oduze and capped the drive with a magical touchdown scramble.

In the weeks leading up to the draft and during his two college seasons at USC, Williams was compared to Patrick Mahomes for his ability to make plays off-script. Williams hasn’t shied away from those comparisons, and with plays like Saturday’s, they only get stronger.

So strong that Tyreek Hill, one of Mahomes’ favorite wide receivers in his first seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, almost shied away from mentioning the perennial MVP candidate when discussing Williams’ performance on Saturday.

That’s an unusual feeling for Bears fans, as we’ve become accustomed to the long list of quarterbacks who never had the chance to be a franchise quarterback for an organization that’s never had one. Now, even if it’s the preseason, Williams is the talk of the NFL.

One thing is clear: If Williams plays like he did on Saturday against the Bengals, these games will be must-sees this season.

Saturday was a reminder of how exceptional Williams can be at the quarterback position, and Bears fans will have to get used to that feeling in the coming seasons.
