Did you know that Reba McEntire’s mother once appeared on “Reba”? (Watch)

Reba McEntire’s mother, Jacqueline McEntire, lived a mostly quiet life away from the spotlight. But did you know that she once had a guest role on her famous daughter’s sitcom? Reba?

According to IMDb, the year was 2005 and the older McEntire appeared on Reba in season 4, episode 17, titled “The Pageant of Grandmas,” in the role of “Grandma Lauren.”

“Jake’s school is holding a beauty pageant – with grandmothers! Jake asks Reba, but of course Barbra Jean wants to enter too,” IMDb describes the episode. “Jake really wants his mother to be there, so they both enter. On the day of the pageant, they find out that only one can enter.”

Reba McEntire took to social media on Friday (August 16) to share a clip from the episode, writing, “Did you know my mom made a guest appearance on season 4 of the Reba show? I still enjoy that!”

Jacqueline McEntire appears in a small role with no dialogue, but it’s a memorable moment when her character makes a hilarious assessment after Reba asks her who really is the “hotter” grandmother:

Jacqueline McEntire was a singer herself and taught her children to sing, but she dedicated her life to teaching. Reba was ready to follow her into that profession before she got her recording contract.

Jacqueline McEntire died in March 2020 at the age of 93 from complications of cancer. Reba remembered her on social media, writing that she had “lived a wonderful, full and healthy life and was absolutely ready to go.”

McEntire paid tribute to her beloved mother in a song titled “You Never Gave Up on Me,” which appeared on her 2019 album. Stronger than the truth.
