WATERFORD – The 65th annual Waterford Community Fair was held Friday and the heat didn’t stop a crowd from gathering to watch the annual parade on State Route 339.

The parade, which lasted about 40 minutes, included police officers, local businesses, school bands, politicians, volunteer fire departments, horseback riders, emergency services and more.

Adrienne Branham, who lives in Waterford, came to the parade with her two children Brooke Branham (10) and Oakley Branham (6).

She said she has been coming to the parade for more than 25 years since she was a child. Branham said what she loves about the fair is the community and “How close the community is, how everyone comes together. And the food.”

Brooke Branham said she couldn’t wait to see the horses in the parade as she caught candy thrown from the floats.

“I like the noodles and the rides,” she said about her favorite part of the fair. “The noodles are good.”

Oakley Branham said he likes “the trips” And “the carousel.”

The Branhams had the opportunity to grab candy, flowers, artificial flower garlands, snacks, and even a stuffed, anthropomorphic corn cob during the parade, as parade participants threw them from the floats and vehicles.

The parade took place on the second day of the fair, and attendees had plenty to do on the community fairgrounds after the parade, including enjoying rides, eating the fair’s famous noodles, listening to music, and checking out contest entries ranging from jam and jelly to pigs to quilts and more on the community fairgrounds after the parade.

The final two days of the fair are Saturday and Sunday. For more information visit https://waterfordfair.com/.
