Deadpool and Wolverine didn’t mince words with its cheeky meta-references. The film even started with a blatant dig at Logan in the opening sequence.

This is just one of the film’s many Easter eggs, and as if by a Dead Pool film, most of the jabs were extremely disrespectful. Nothing demonstrated this more than the film’s homage to the legacy of LoganHugh Jackman’s best performance as the quintessential X-Man. The 2017 film was tragic but cathartic, which Deadpool and WolverineThe intro scene is incredibly bittersweet. LoganThe Last Man: A New Year co-writer Michael Green told IGN he was warned about this sequence; oddly enough, he took the callback as a huge compliment.

I didn’t know they would go that far.” This intro sequence escalated with the arrival of armed TVA agents who were massacred by Deadpool with parts of Logan’s adamantium skeleton. Green claimed that Logan “Cameo” was a testament to the greatness of this film.



“I felt like it was nothing more than a compliment”

“You shouldn’t take seriously that they dug him up and that it was really him,” he joked. “It felt less like they were trying to stop Logan as they struggled with not feeling like they wanted to make a film that was as good as they wanted Logan was, that is a big compliment! I felt like it was nothing but a compliment.” The 2017 film ended with Wolverine’s last attempt to protect Laura (played by Dafne Keen) from X-24 and the Reavers. Logan died hoping that Laura and the other mutant children would find their way to Eden. Jackman previously confirmed Logan would be his last film with Wolverine, but he changed his mind after seeing Ryan Reynolds in the first Dead Pool Film.
