GURNEE, IL – Just a short drive away, a record-breaking roller coaster was just unveiled. This coaster will have the steepest drop in the world.

“Wrath of Rakshasa” will premiere in 2025 at Six Flags Great America near Chicago.

Not only will it have an initial drop of 96 degrees, but it will also have the most inversions of any dive coaster in the world.

Bolliger and Mabillard’s custom-designed dive coaster will be 55 meters high and feature a cliffhanger handle that will let riders float vertically downward before plunging 52 meters into the depths at a 96-degree angle.

“Six Flags Great America continues to push the boundaries of innovation and thrills by introducing the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster,” said park president John Krajnak. “Wrath of Rakshasa complements our already impressive lineup of record-breaking coasters and attractions in the park and demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative experiences for our guests.”

Wrath of Rakshasa will have three trains with three rows of passenger seating, each with seven seats. The track will be 3,239 feet long. The ride will reach speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour and have five inversions.

This is the second record-breaking roller coaster announced for 2025 near Michigan.

Canada’s Wonderland will open AlpenFury next year. The attraction will be Canada’s longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster and will feature nine inversions, the most inversions of any launch coaster in North America.
