Video: Ukraine destroys important bridge in Russian Kursk region

A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said an attack on a key bridge in Russia’s Kursk region was probably carried out using the US HIMARS missile system.

“For the first time, the Kursk region was hit by Western-made missiles, probably the US Himars type,” Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram.

“As a result of the attack on the bridge over the Seim River in Glushkovsky district, it was completely destroyed and volunteers who provided assistance to evacuated civilians were killed,” she added.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk shared footage appearing to show the attack in a post on Telegram, writing: “Ukrainian pilots are conducting precision strikes on enemy strongholds, equipment concentrations, as well as enemy logistics centers and supply routes.”

Alexei Smirnov, acting governor of Kursk, confirmed the incident in another post on Telegram, writing: “As a result of an attack from Ukraine, a road bridge over the Seym River in Glushkovsky District was destroyed. I am currently in contact with the local administration.”

The bridge played a key role in Russian supply lines, which were actively targeted by Ukraine.

In an address to the nation on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country’s armed forces were focused on hampering Russian military logistics and reserves.

“We must inflict maximum damage on all Russian positions, and that is what we are doing,” he added.

The attack on the bridge was part of a larger cross-border offensive launched by Ukraine last week – a move that surprised both Russia and the West.

As Ukraine advances deeper into Russia, it has declared that it is not interested in “taking territory.”

“The sooner Russia agrees to restore a just peace, the sooner Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory will stop. As long as Putin continues the war, he will receive such reactions from Ukraine,” a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said, according to the BBC.
