Electric motorcycle riders are pioneers, every single one of us. And ambassadors at the same time. Each of us has a unique story about why we first swung our leg over an electric motorcycle, and each of us could talk all night long about our experiences with electric riding. But we hardly know any other “electric” colleagues. So imagine a ride with 50 or even 80 or more motorcyclists, humming, whistling, gliding and whizzing through the night together.
The Electric Night Ride was Trui Hanoulle’s brilliant idea to bring together electric motorcycles and mopeds for a nighttime adventure in a European city. The last 6 editions took place in Antwerp #1 (Belgium), Lucerne #2 (Switzerland), Paris #3 (France), Stuttgart #4 (Germany) with the support of Christian Jog, Jaca #5 (Spain) organized by Daniel Montero and Brussels #6 (Belgium) hosted by Pat Kramp.
Electric night ride #7
The 7th edition of the Electric Night Ride (ENR) will take place in the Netherlands on Saturday 31 August and is organised by Cornee Bosmans, an enthusiastic Dutch electric motorbike rider, in collaboration with Gert-Jan Rongen of Electric Motorbikes Nederland. Stay up to date with the latest news and updates about this event via the Facebook group ‘Wie Rijdt? Elektrische Motor’. Participants and interested parties can also communicate and exchange messages here. Cornee has mapped out a 45 km route through Helmond and Eindhoven that is suitable for riding electric scooters (so no motorways will be used). Several scenic locations are planned as stops for photo opportunities along the way.
Cornee Bosmans: “After participating in the European Night Ride (ENR) in Brussels, Gert-Jan and I came up with the idea of organizing the next edition in the Netherlands. We are looking forward to making it a fantastic event! We start at 8pm on the Automotive Campus in Helmond, but we also make sure it is a fun social gathering by hosting a barbecue for all Electric Night Riders at 6pm. In case of bad weather, we use the restaurant on campus and offer a buffet inside. Participation in the Night Ride is free, but the costs for the BBQ/buffet and drinks are at your expense. The ride ends back on the Automotive Campus and we expect everyone to stay until the end. You can also order a ‘ride-after’ package (wrap/sweets and a drink). For organizational reasons, we ask you to register and pay in advance at Electric Motorbikes Nederland using this form. There are plenty of charging stations available for those who need to charge during the day or during dinner. All information regarding sleeping arrangements will be shared on our Facebook event page or via our WhatsApp group.”
Pre-event Electric Motorbikes Nederland at the Automotive Campus in Helmond with Zero Motorcycles
The Automotive Campus has been home to Electric Motorbikes Nederland for years. In collaboration with Zero Motorcycles, Gert-Jan Rongen is organizing a pre-event in the form of test drives at the Automotive Campus in Helmond from 10 a.m. This is an opportunity for those interested to try out this new sustainable two-wheeled means of transport. Six models from Zero are available for testing. Motorcycle clothing is mandatory. Registration with a time slot is required (see Electric Motorbikes Nederland form).
