The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered all banks to freeze the accounts of United Commercial Bank chairwoman Rukhmila Zaman and her husband, former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed.
The BFIU sent a letter to all banks today (12 August).
In the letter, seen by Business Standard, the BFIU also asked banks to freeze the accounts of their sons and daughters and companies owned by them.
According to the BFIU letter, the bank accounts of the individuals mentioned and the companies owned by them will be frozen for 30 days under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2012.
The letter also stated that the bank statements of all bank accounts of the named individuals and the organizations belonging to them, including the KYC form and transaction details since opening, must be submitted within the next five working days.
