The north Bengaluru-based technician had been missing since August 4, after which his wife took to social media to claim that the police were not making the desired efforts to trace her husband. The woman suspected that her husband had been kidnapped.

A Bengaluru-based technician was found near a mall in Noida on Thursday night, days after he went missing on August 4.

The man, a resident of north Bengaluru, was seen coming out of a mall after watching a movie and was brought back to his city by the police on Friday morning.

The technician’s wife posted on social media claiming that police did not make sufficient efforts to locate her husband, who she said disappeared while withdrawing cash from an ATM.

The engineer, who lives in north Bengaluru, had been missing since August 4, after which his wife took to social media to claim that the police were not making the desired efforts to trace her husband. The woman suspected that her husband had been kidnapped.

During the initial investigation, the police had no idea where the man was as he had switched off his mobile phone. The police also checked several CCTV cameras at bus stops, railway stations and even at the airport, but nothing helped. It was only with the new SIM card that the technician had bought in Noida and inserted into his old phone that the police were able to track him down.

Investigating officers who met the technician as he was leaving the mall said The Times of India“When the three of us surrounded him, he realized we were plainclothes police officers. He smiled and asked, what now? We told him we should fly back to the city and he was vehemently against it.”

It took several hours before the three officers were able to convince the technician to fly back. “They put me in prison, I’ll live there… but I won’t go back,” the technician told them. He agreed, however, when the police told him that his wife’s missing person report could only be completed in his presence.

After he landed at Kempegowda International Airport on Friday morning, the police recorded his statement and sent him home. In his statement, the technician stated that his wife was harassing and torturing him.

“I am her second husband. When I met her about three years ago, she was divorced and had a daughter of about 12 years. I was a bachelor and agreed to marry her. We have an eight-month-old daughter together,” he told police, as quoted by TOI.

He further said, “She restricts my freedom. She shouts at me even if a drop of rice or a piece of chapati falls from my plate. I should dress according to her ideas. I cannot go out alone to drink tea.”

The man also stated that the technician had changed his appearance since his wife uploaded his videos and pictures online reporting him missing. He apparently shaved his head and changed his appearance.

He took a bus to Tirupati and then a train to Bhubaneswar. From there he travelled to Delhi and then to Noida, the technician told police.
