New Delhi. The case of rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on the night of August 8-9 has reached the Supreme Court. Three petitions, including the petition of BDS doctor Monica Singh of Army College, have been received by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. It is not yet known whether these petitions will be heard in the Supreme Court or not. All three persons who sent the petitions have described this case as very serious.
Apart from Dr. Monika Singh, who works at the Army Dental College, two advocates Ujjwal Gaur and Rohit Pandey have also sent petitions to the Chief Justice. Ujjwal Gaur and Rohit Pandey termed the case of rape and brutal murder of a doctor in Kolkata as rare and cruel. Ujjwal and Rohit, who themselves practice in the Supreme Court, in their petition to Chief Justice Chandrachud stated that this is an atrocity against the soul of the country. Both of them stated in their letter that not only a doctor but humanity has been attacked. Both the lawyers stated that the soul of the entire country has been shaken by this barbaric incident. In their petition, they demanded that Chief Justice DY Chandrachud should issue appropriate directions in the matter.
Both the lawyers have stated that speedy investigation and justice is required in the rape and murder case of the doctor. The petition has stated that the Supreme Court must send a message to the country on this matter. At the same time, Dr. Monika Singh has stated in her petition to the Chief Justice that the matter must be taken into her own cognizance. She has said that the Supreme Court should give proper directions regarding security in hospitals. Monika Singh has stated in her petition that the security of the hospitals must also be handed over to the central forces.
