A new roller coaster is coming to Six Flags New England.

On Thursday, the theme park announced that the Quantum Accelerator will be coming in 2025. The Six Flags website describes the roller coaster as a family-friendly roller coaster with high speeds, twists, turns and lots of airtime.

This attraction will be the first double-launch roller coaster not only in the park, but in all of New England, offering riders a unique, thrilling experience. Six Flags New England currently has 11 roller coasters, according to its website.

Below you will find all the details about the new roller coaster and the driving conditions.

About the quantum accelerator

According to the Six Flags website, the Quantum Accelerator will feature two launches, 11 minutes of flight time and speeds of up to 45 mph. In total, the ride lasts just over two minutes and covers a distance of 2,500 feet.

The roller coaster’s cars are designed as steampunk-style hoverbikes to give riders a feel for the steam-powered machinery that inspired the ride.

What is a dual launch straddle coaster?

The double launch means the roller coaster accelerates riders twice. While regular roller coasters first travel uphill to build up an accelerated speed, this roller coaster shoots out of the launch dock and reaches 30 mph in just a few seconds. Halfway through the ride, the second acceleration wave takes riders to 45 mph.

Straddle means that instead of simply sitting in the seat like on a typical roller coaster, riders sit astride the seat and grip the handlebars. This feature allows riders to lean forward, maximizing acceleration and adrenaline.

How to visit Six Flags New England

You can visit Six Flags New England at 1623 Main St. in Agawam, Massachusetts. Day passes normally cost $85 each, but the theme park’s current sale, which ends on Labor Day, is $29 each.

Six Flags has not yet announced a specific date for the opening of the Quantum Accelerator. Updates on the roller coaster’s progress can be found on the park’s social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, X and Tik Tok.
