Wasim Jaffer mocks Michael Vaughan for taunting India over their first ODI series defeat to Sri Lanka in 27 years

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has brutally mocked former England captain Michael Vaughan for attacking him over the Men in Blue’s ODI series loss to Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma-led team India suffered a humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka in the ODI series. After the first match ended in a draw, India failed to win the next two matches against the hosts, which unfortunately ended their 27-year winning streak in the series against Sri Lanka.

India have won every ODI series against Sri Lanka since 1997, but their winning streak ended in a 110-run defeat after they conceded just 138 runs in the third and final ODI of the recently concluded series while chasing their target of 248 runs.

Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer conducted a question and answer session on his X-handle (formerly Twitter). Jaffer wrote, “It’s been a long time since we did this. Let’s do an #AskWasim. Fire away and I’ll try to play with a straight bat :)”

However, Michael Vaughan poked fun at the former India opener by asking him about the performance of the ‘Men in Blue’ in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

“Hi Wasim… What was the result of the last ODI series in Sri Lanka? I was away and missed it. Hope all is well,” the former England captain wrote on X.

Wasim Jaffer responded to Michael Vaughan’s question by reminding him of England’s record in the Ashes series, which the team last won in 2015.

“I’ll put it in Ashes terms for you, Michael. Ind have won as many matches in this series as the Tests that Eng have won in Australia in the last 12 years.” The former Indian cricketer replied to Vaughan on X.
