Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has presented her economic plan for the country and promised to address citizens’ concerns.

Accordingly CNN, Harris promised in her economic speech on Friday, August 16, to spend millions on new home construction and tax breaks for buyers.

Harris stressed that rising food prices are one of the biggest economic problems and said it could be solved by a federal ban on price gouging across the entire food industry.

The vice president said at a campaign rally: “My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises and break the rules.”

She added: “I know most businesses are creating jobs, contributing to our economy and playing by the rules. But some are not, and that’s just not right. And when that’s the case, we need to take action.”

In addition, Jason Furman, a leading economist in the Obama administration, believes that anti-price gouging laws are not a good idea.

He told the New York Times, “This is not a sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality. There are no benefits to this, and there are some drawbacks.”

Instead of pursuing a policy of price gouging, Roberts recommended finding out what problem prevents new suppliers from entering concentrated industries.
