Wisconsin Diverse Enterprise Network offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to network

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Many businesses often rely on word of mouth to grow, but sometimes it just isn’t enough.

This is where the Wisconsin Diverse Enterprise Network comes into play.

The new online platform, called WiDEN, connects local ethnic businesses with Fortune 500 companies looking to expand and take their work to the next level.

“It’s also a collaborative engine that helps companies connect, collaborate and succeed together,” said Abra Fortson, consultant at WiDEN.

Abra Fortson works as a WiDEN consultant and guides entrepreneurs through the process of joining the free network.

“While there are many technical resources, none of them are centrally focused on small, ethnic and diverse businesses,” Fortson said.

Citlali Mendieta Ramos is the owner of Antigua Latin Inspired Kitchen in West Allis.

She says WiDEN is a great resource for connecting her with other businesses in the area.

“First of all, everyone eats. I love socializing with people in general, so why shouldn’t we support each other in our businesses?” said Mendieta Ramos.

Although Antigua has been a West Allis resident for over 18 years, Mendieta Ramos wants to continue to reinvent herself and ensure her business remains in the hearts and minds of her community.

“Even though we have always been here, we are still evolving. We will always continue to learn and grow because we have to move with the times,” said Mendieta Ramos.

She encourages anyone who feels like they are too small to participate to give it a try.

“If you want to grow, you absolutely have to connect with other companies, so if you’re too small, this is a perfect opportunity for you to join and let others help you, raise awareness, get attention and connect with other companies that could help you,” said Mendieta Ramos.
