-88KG ADCC World Championship Bracket, Schedule: What you need to know

-88KG ADCC World Championship Bracket, Schedule: What you need to know

Reigning ADCC 88kg World Champion Giancarlo Bodoni returns to Las Vegas seeking to become the first person to ever win one of the tournament’s most challenging weight classes at two consecutive ADCC World Championships.

The ADCC World Championship begins at 1:00 p.m. on August 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but athletes won’t have learned their path to the gold medal until August 16 and will have a short break before their first-round encounters.

Bodoni returns as champion and will try to achieve something that Gordon Ryan, Andre Galvao and Yuri Simoes never managed. Saulo Ribeiro is the only wrestler to have won the -88 kg class twice, but he did not do so in consecutive ADCC World Championships (2000 and 2003).

Many wrestlers in the -88 kg weight class move up to a higher weight class, such as Ryan after his victory in the class in 2017 and Simoes in 2015. Both made the jump and successfully won the -99 kg class at the following ADCC Worlds.

Bodoni has a challenging field to prevent history from being made. This includes Pedro Marinho, one of the most decorated wrestlers of the last decade. Chris Wojcik, who has documented his ADCC story on FloGrappling, is also in the field.

Here you can find the table and fight schedule for the ADCC World Championship in the -88 kg class.
