YouTube has finally removed content creator Norme’s stream of his sleepless world record attempt after more than 250 hours, although he unfortunately continues his dangerous attempt on Kick.

If there is one thing the internet has taught us over the years, it is that many people will do wild things for fame and influence. There is no better current example of this than YouTuber Normee’s attempt to break the world record for consecutive days without sleepThe record Norme is trying to break is held by Randy Gardner, who stayed awake for 264 hours in 1964.

Although this record was already broken in 1986 by Robert McDonald (he stayed awake for 19 days straight) and is no longer recognized by Guinness World Records due to its dangerous nature, that hasn’t stopped YouTuber Norme from trying to break it. Norme streamed for 11 days straight without sleeping. but it seems that YouTube has finally intervened.

YouTube cancels Norme’s attempt to set the world record without sleep

Norme’s YouTube stream has been running for a while now, but it went viral when he hit the 200-hour mark and viewers became more and more concerned about his health as he began to black out, hallucinate, and make less and less sense as time went on. Donations poured in with messages begging him to get some sleep before he did permanent damage to himself, while everyone tried to get YouTube to intervene.

I hope this goes without saying, but this is an incredibly stupid record for anyone to want to break, not to mention with no medical staff present. The effects that more than 24 hours without sleep can have on the body are dire, let alone 11 days.

After 250 hours of nonstop streaming and no sleep, YouTube has finally taken action and removed Norme’s latest video for violating their “community guidelines.” The other livestreams of his attempt have also been removed, although it appears he has not been banned from the platform outright.

While you might be hoping that YouTube removing the last stream would make Norme stop and finally get some sleep, Unfortunately he is still active and now streams on Kick instead. It’s not clear what will happen to Norme when this is all over, and while some people are calling it fake and theorizing that some of the streams were pre-recorded, the videos of Norme passing out and hallucinating unfortunately make it seem all too real.
