A B-roll video shows an operations center of the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing.
Colonel Sonya Morrison called members of the 185th Air Refueling Wing to a special formation during their training weekend in August.
Morrison asked the Soldiers of the 185th Aviation Regiment to attend the commander’s event so she could thank the unit members for their recent contributions to the Iowa Air National Guard’s mission.
The event honored a number of outstanding service members, as well as the unit’s Airmen of the Year and the base’s Honor Guard.
Members of the unit who compete in the Iowa Governor’s Ten Rifle Competition and participate in the catering were also recognized for their achievements in recent competitions.
At the event, Colonel Morrison spoke to members of the unit about the history and future of the Iowa Air National Guard mission in Sioux City.
In the presence of state officials from Des Moines and Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott, Morrison also discussed numerous changes in the Iowa National Guard’s mission and future plans.
Lt. Col. Steve Peters serves as the 185th Squadron chaplain and spoke about the importance of community support for the Iowa National Guard’s mission.
