Plymouth man charged with murdering his father, held without bail

PLYMOUTH – A local man was remanded in custody without bail after being charged with murder in the death of his 73-year-old father, officials said Thursday.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, 26-year-old Matthew Paluzzi pleaded not guilty to murder charges in Plymouth District Court after being arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his father, Anthony Paluzzi.

Police were called to the Paluzzi family’s residence at 15 Cedar Road at around 6:26 a.m. Wednesday morning after receiving a 911 call about an unconscious man with a severe laceration to his neck.

Officers and emergency responders found Anthony Paluzzi covered in blood and pronounced him dead at the scene.

A kitchen knife was found near the front door.

Following the incident, an alert was issued for Matthew Paluzzi and his vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Murano.

A motorist spotted the car in Kingston and contacted authorities.

Paluzzi was subsequently arrested during a traffic stop by Hanover Police and Massachusetts State Police on Columbia Road.

He had bloodstains on his clothes and an examination revealed blood on his hands.

The state medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The case, prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney David Cutshall, remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the Plymouth Police Department.

Paluzzi’s next court date is scheduled for October 2.
