Registration open for the Colorado UPA State Championship at the Steamboat Pickleball Center

Registration open for the Colorado UPA State Championship at the Steamboat Pickleball Center

The United Pickleball Association has selected the newly constructed Steamboat Pickleball Center to host the Colorado United Pickleball Association State Championship Series September 13-15.

Registration is officially open for the championship that will crown Colorado’s best amateur pickleball players, with all proceeds benefiting the Steamboat Springs Pickleball Association’s local pickleball youth development initiative and Stop Alzheimer’s Now.

The Colorado UPA State Championship Series will be held at the Steamboat Pickleball Center, which opened in July. The 35,000-square-foot building broke ground in 2023 after raising more than $12 million in donations. The building will house 12 indoor pickleball courts, a pro shop and a mezzanine where tournament spectators can watch the action.

“Hosting a national tournament of this caliber in our brand new pickleball facility is an honor of the highest caliber,” said Jayson Harris, pickleball director for the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex, in a statement. “Never before has a pickleball championship series of this magnitude been held in Colorado, and we are thrilled to welcome players from across the state here in Steamboat.”

The tournament will include all skill levels from 3.0 to 5.0, with UPA State Championship titles awarded for each skill level in all six age groups from 18 to 70+. There will also be five divisions – men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and a mixed doubles category.

Each champion automatically qualifies for the Elite Champions Division and has a chance to compete in the UPA World Championships, which will be held at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas from November 4-10. An estimated 3,500 amateurs will compete for a chance at a world title.

Registration for the Colorado State Championship can be done through PickleballBrackets.com.. Places for the tournament are limited.
